Vinny is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater at Manhattanville University. He has taught courses in acting, introduction to methods of making and created and produces the new play reading series “Fresh Ink”. Directing credits for Manhattanville include Broadway Bound by Neil Simon, The Motherf*cker with the Hat by Stephen Adley Gurguis, an original adaptation of Aristophanes’ The Birds. As an adjunct professor of theater at Westchester Community College he taught classes in acting, theater history and directed Dog Sees God by Burt V. Royal for Viking Theatricals.
He’s served as an artist-in-residence for the Lower Manhattan Culture Council’s Su Casa program in 2018, 2019 and again in 2021 teaching workshops in improvisation, stand-up and comedy studies. He has worked as a teaching artist at the Seaside Senior Center and Bayside Senior Center with the Queen’s Theater.
He works as a trainer for Lifetime Arts leading workshops and salons for teaching artists and administrators who want to learn more about Creative Aging and arts programming for older adults.
He was a lead teacher for “Fresh Start”, a pilot program with Lumberyard Performing Arts in Catskill, NY where he worked with incarcerated teens at the Hudson Correctional Facility. He has taught workshops at Groveland Correctional in upstate New York with Shake on the Lake Theater Company. He is a teaching artist with Rehabilitation Through the Arts leading workshops in theater at various facilities in New York State. In spring 2023 he directed an original adaptation of Sophocles’ Electra with the participants at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility.
He has taught workshops in creative writing, sketch comedy and acting at Yale University, Sarah Lawrence College Fulbright Scholars summer program, improv comedy at the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven, and masterclasses in playwriting at the SUNY Purchase high school writers summer program.
